I’m in the midst of prepping pages of a journal I made months ago- I will be taking it with me when I go on a cruise through the Panama Canal this Fall. Today I was sorting through a zillion family pics… (a never-ending process in a family that never threw photos away!)…and found the only 2 images we have of my mom and dad when THEY cruised through the Canal in 1937- just a few months before my oldest brother was born! She was 25, the age I was when our older son was born. In my heart she and Dad are still with me – I loved them so much.
Mom LOVED to travel when she was younger- these images make me smile! It will be almost 75 years to the day when we go through the Canal – (thankfully I’m way beyond pregnancy! lol) I’ve scanned these pics and they will be the first thing to enter my journal. It’s hard to believe Mom passed away less than two years ago, at age 98+. We lost Dad to pancreatic cancer in 1995- he was almost 83. But in these pictures?? Forever youthful and exuberant for life!

Mom and Dad dancing for the photographer- they loved to dance in their youth. Mom was 7 months pregnant – nothing stopped her love of travel! (Dad was on business in radio production – I love his natty attire!)

My Mom and Dad cruising through the Panama Canal- summer 1937- and Mom with a book in hand- she always read- always! Is it any wonder I love the book arts!

The old photos of loved ones still in their prime are such treasures – I lost a beloved grandma almost 20 years ago, at the great age of 89, and the recent photos brought no comfort, as they showed how frail she had become, so I set out one taken long before I was born, showing her young, pretty and happy. THAT was a great boon at a difficult time. PS We miss you on Facebook!
Fabulous photos of your parents. How wonderful to have them. I thought about your mom…on my mom’s birthday a couple weeks ago. Love that you…and I…have such sweet memories.
Great pix. I love the old ones. I have some like that of my folks too. Your dad was a pretty dapper guy. Life was certainly simpler back then.
Following you now. Thought I was already. Hope you’ll follow on mine too.
